The Human Brain
That’s our self. That’s it.
Selfie game: Anatomical
The first time I held a human brain in Anatomy Lab I was completely speechless. I looked at my classmates expecting a similar reaction and they looked back at me confused like…”dude let’s start identifying the structures.” I had to take a step back and let it process…in my hands was someone’s entire life. From start to finish, every memory, every emotion, every bodily control…was right there in my hands.
SubhanAllah, that day I remembered the words of my mom when she told me….”in your profession you will be working with the human body every day. When you’re in Anatomy lab identifying and working with the cadavers really look and behold the greatness of Allah. That body, those organs, the muscles, the bones, the nerves…all of that is from Allah. Only Allah can create that masterpiece you see in front of you. That’s not just a pile of flesh and bones, that’s Allah’s work.”

Alex Turner’s love letter to Alexa Chung: "My mouth hasn’t shut up about you since you kissed it. The idea that you may kiss it again is stuck in my brain, which hasn’t stopped thinking about you since well before any kiss."
Why do you put your self esteem in the hands of complete strangers?

Most underrated Disney character ever: the book shop owner from Beauty and the Beast.
Back in like the colonial French time period (if I’m wrong, someone please correct me) this peasant French girl wouldn’t have been expected to read. She would have been expected to do what everyone in the town canonically thought she should do in the movie: marry Gaston, settle down, have his children and keep his home. Even the bimbettes, the girls who are Belle’s age and swoon over Gaston, can’t even DREAM of having any other lifestyle and think of her dreaming and reading as weird.
But along comes the book shop owner and he caters to Belle’s dreams and love of reading in the half a minute he’s on screen just as much as Maurice. He understands that books and adventure are important to her and doesn’t try to repress that or call her odd like all the other townspeople do.
I bet he taught Belle how to read and really fostered her love of books and challenged her intellectually her whole life, in a society where that was deemed a crazy thing to do, since she wasn’t expected to amount to anything more than a trophy wife. You can even see the look of pure joy on his face as she talks about her favorite books.
Best Disney role model ever.
Find someone who makes you realize three things: one, that home is not a place, but a feeling. Two, that time is not measured by a clock, but by moments. And three, that heartbeats are not heard, but felt and shared.
you go with him, that wonderful Doctor
but you left too soon :(
As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.
